i've been to summer school before, used to go year apon year. i loved it, mainly because at ours we could choose what activities we wanted to do from a list of about 3 or 4 updated every day. we also had a really good sweet shop which used to open late in the evening for 2 or so hours. only thing i was not keane on was the fire drill when we arived!. oh yeah, and my helper from slovakia was awsome!. viva slovakia!

I used to go to summer school also. I think from after Kindergarten and/or first grade, I went to spend several hours a day at a local school with some other visually impaired kids and some of our teachers from school. I don't remember much of it, but I remember we used to do activities like baking, arts and crafts, listening to stories, playing, and once we walked to somewhere. It was pretty cool, except for that I apparently use to get scared and run away when we would use things like the electric mixer; I freaked out easily with noises like that. Now I can be around them, but I usually prefer not to.
After that, from after second grade and off and on 'til after twelfth grade, I attended some summer school programs at the School for the Blind. I liked it, even though I'd really miss home and especially my family. At TSB we had classes of course (and/or went to work), stayed in the dorms, went on group trips, and had chorse. But being there was cool; I loved going to the library there, getting my allowance and spending it *smile*, the trips to the malls/stores, and just being able to do a lot of things independently because I had to. Most of the house parents were pretty cool too.

My first couple of years in college, I took summer classes. I always took two classes. It wasn't that bad. Its very fast paced. The classes start and end really fast and the teacher covers a lot of material compared with to the fall and spring classes. I won't recomend it just because I don't want to fill your summer with books and lectures, but if you want to graduate early then taking summer classes would be a good option. Its good when you got the money to spend for it, but if I were you, your better off taking classes during the fall and spring semester.

Oh yeah, I didn't think of summer classes for college. I agree with the above post that it's better to take most of your classes in the fall and spring. I also took summer classes in college, and while I did do fine in some of them since they didn't require too much reading and writing, and I could've done better in another one, I would not recommend it for a heavier class like math. I figure I could take it because I heard that the teacher was good at explaining it and because I figured I could take tutoring, but it ended up that I couldn't learn it fast enough and keep up with the work, so that was my mistake. If it's something you know you are good at though, or if you find out for sure that it won't require much reading or even if it's an online class, I think summer classes are a good idea to get those classes out of the way.

My sociology professor tried convincing me to take summer classes to make up work I missed over the course of the semester, but the way I look at it, since i am not returning to the school in fall, why go? i plan on starting anew at a school in 2010, where the only thing that's required among medical documentation, is a copy of one's high school transcript and diploma.

I'm taking my first summer courses for college right now.
College online courses are HARDCORE!
Bleh - three cheers to the beginning of my junior year! *grin*
P.S. I don't recommend **online** summer courses for anyone. I'm struggling and it's only the first week. There's a whole bunch of reading involved.

I have found that classes are easier online because I don't have to leave my apt and I can do my work any place that isn't a school.

This summer is the first and last time I'm doing summer school. Although I am taking a class in something that I am good at, English, it is so time consuming. I have to read between four or five stories per night, maybe more, depending on how short they are, and have papers due every week. I am so glad I am only doing one class. I honestly don't know how people do two classes, but I think it also depends on the class and professor. The only reason I'm doing summer school is so that I can graduate in May of next year.

Every student at my school is required to take 9 credits of summer classes before graduating.

I was always a pretty good student, and I didn't need them. My dad use to make me go for the hell of it. I guess like a daycare or something. Thank god I don't have to do summer school any more, I was so damn bored. I remember one class I did like it because the teacher decided to read us the Harry Potter book, but that year I got put in to special ed for some strange reason.
